The best indicator of incomplete combustion for oil burners is smoke, as heavy smoking will usually occur before high concentrations of carbon monoxide (CO) are present. The smoke tester is supplied with a Ringlemann soot scale chart, a packet of 40 strips of filter paper & a bottle of lube oil.
